Virginia Beach Wildlife Festival

January 25th thru February 1st, 2026

This annual event sponsored by the Virginia Beach Parks and Recreation Department to showcase the many opportunities in the area to see and participate in wildlife spotting.  We will provide guides for the birding trips as well as man a booth at the event.  Check the Va Beach website page for full details. www.vbgov.com/winterwildlife

Great Back Yard Bird Count

February 14, 15, 16, 17, 2025

This is an annual event sponsored by the Cornell Lab and the Audubon Society where everyone can participate right from their own yard!  It is an annual count of types and quantities of birds found in a given location during a four day counting period.  Each day spend at least 15 minutes at a time and keep track of all the bird species that you see in your yard.  Also count or try to guess how many of that species that you see.  An example would be Northern Cardinal 5.  Each day you start your list over again from zero.  Full details can be found on the website  www.gbbc.birdcount.org
